Reactions

synthesis reaction. decomposition reaction. single displacement reaction. double displacement reaction. combustion reaction. acid-base reaction.

Neutralization Reaction: When an acid and base react to form a salt and water.

Displacement Reaction:

  • "A chemical reaction in which a highly reactive species(or element) displaces or pushes out a less reactive element from its solution is called displacement reaction."

  • Substiution Reaction

Double Displacement reaction

  • Occurs when two ionic compounds are exchanged, making two new compounds. The pattern looks like A+Bāˆ’+C+Dāˆ’+C+Bāˆ’A^+B^-+C^+D^-+C^+B^-

  • THink of swapping either Cations or Anions --> NOt both ( why ? )

  • Dissociation, in chemistry, the breaking up of a compound into simpler constituents that are usually capable of recombining under other conditions.
