74 - 75

Despite June calls him a child, he ironically, in defense, furthers proves that he is a child with the classical response:

" BUT HE STARTED IT "

This is the first time he is honest about his situation. WE see itme and itme again he drinks himself, he ignores the warnings , this is the first time he looks towards the darkness and it overwhelems him.

Ironic he calls others chicken shit earlier in the story, but he in fact is the most chicken shit/coward out of all --> Too scared to see her daughter.

HE also thinks everyone is out there to get him. He shakes his fist in the air towards God, he shakes his fist towards the government and white people, and he thinks that his own daughter is only coming back to get the settlement money.

ironic that he thinks that she doesn't want to see him ever again after seeing him but despite his terrible first-impression, she stays and tries to connect to her child-like father.
